Today I See

Added on by Ridzki.

An act of stupidity combined with self fulfilled ignorance fueled with arrogance. And I wonder, where has humanity been?

Have it not waken up by the reality? in which it does not only bite but also bark

Have it still lost its way in the dark? fooled by many, tempted by others?

Today I see this, and many more on the days to come. Cheers ---------------- Now playing: Spoon - You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb

And the bonfire lit up

Added on by Ridzki.

Warming the nights and days to come, until it recedes again to sorrow and despair. Hope would come as it would go, losing many on its track to fulfillment.

An I would wish that I would become what I expected to be, what the society, and everyone around me wished for.

For I am wanted to be a part of the cure, not the disease.

US 'wants Palestinian state now' but will this be it?

Added on by Ridzki.

Just recently read the article on BBC website regarding that US wants Palestinian state to be formed now. Some might be skeptical, but this might all the world need to stop one of the longest conflict on earth. What can we do now, is just observing how the matters would turn out, and I personally optimistic that in near future we can see the state of Palestine and Israel together in a map. Cheers

Sign of the times?

Added on by Ridzki.

As we grow older, so does the world around us, and along with it, the walls and boundaries which keeping us apart. Ideas and knowledge are growing exponentially, increasing the number of people who survives on their own, leaving behind many bastions of conservatives which unable to move along with the stream.

The people are the same faces we seen everyday in our life, but somehow, now they're alien to the people around them, leaving everybody questioning about the changes that they've seen but not expected.

Conservative dogma are somehow jewels of the past, which glorious brightness are fading away, not because they have lost theirs but because we set our eyes to another thing that is more important, ourselves.

And how does people deal with their own species? derived from the idea of the glorious past and newfound future, they mixed it, making ways to construct relationships and manage them, but somehow it is not able to replace what have been lost.

Cherishes and laughs are somehow present, but they would go as soon as they have come, because the minds are taking it away. They say it couldn't breed passion, because it's driven from fear and hate. Funny isn't it? we love to hate but we hate to love.

So I asked myself, "is this the sign of the times?" or simply another face of the modern life?

Message from the PVC of Monash University Malaysia

Added on by Ridzki.

I don't usually comment about fellow bloggers or any other people that voiced their opinion on the internet but still, when I got this email from the PVC of Monash University Malaysia I know something out of the line had been done.

Here is the email:

*********************************************************************** A message from Pro Vice-Chancellor and President (Malaysia), Prof. Merilyn Liddell *********************************************************************** Dear Students,

It has come to my attention that there have been a number of blogs by students that are defamatory in nature, causing hurt to the persons named, and put the students who author the blogs at risk in a number of ways. I suspect that this has arisen because students are not aware of the laws of Malaysia relevant to such situations, nor of the University policies that pertain.

Please note that while free speech is welcome, there are limitations provided by the law particularly regarding defamation and sedition. It would appear that some students are not aware of this, and have perhaps inadvertently contravened the law.

In light of this, the University wishes to provide relevant information to students regarding the legal and institutional context that applies.

Please find attached a document prepared by the campus solicitor, for your information, and action as necessary.

Prof. Merilyn Liddell Pro Vice-Chancellor and President (Malaysia)

NOTICE TO STUDENTS

RE: BLOGGING

It has recently come to the attention of the University that there have been several blogs written by students on the internet which were derogatory in nature and made against the University and its lecturers ("the Blogs").

As such, we wish to bring to awareness that there are laws in Malaysia and disciplinary policies at Monash University relating to such matters. The words used in the Blogs could be construed as defamatory or seditious words and constitute offences under the said laws and policies, thereby placing the blogger ("the Offender") in danger of attracting legal action and/or disciplinary action against him/her.

Definitions Words are "defamatory" in nature if the words "tend to lower a person in the estimation of right-thinking members of society generally" (per the Defamation Act 1957) or if the words "makes or publishes any imputation concerning any person, intending to harm, or knowing or having reason to believe that such imputation will harm the reputation of such person" (per the Penal Code (Revised 1997)).

Words are considered "seditious" if they have a tendency to bring into hatred or contempt, excite, raise discontent or disaffection, promote feelings of ill-will and hostility against another person or party (per the Sedition Act 1948).

Consequences/Dangers for using defamatory or seditious words in blogs There are numerous legal and/or disciplinary actions which may be taken against the Offender:- (i) a civil action for defamation may be initiated in court by the University and/or the offended lecturer against the Offender; (ii) a criminal action for sedition may be commenced in court by the Authorities against the Offender; (iii) the University may take disciplinary action against the Offender for committing a misconduct under the Students Disciplinary Policy; (iv) the University may take disciplinary action against the Offender for committing an offence under the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Facilities By Students Policy.

Advice to Students In view of the above and in view of the very public nature of the blogs, the University advises all students as follows:- (i) to exercise caution when blogging or making any other postings on the internet so as to avoid writing anything which may be defamatory or seditious in their blogs or postings; (ii) to immediately remove any blogs (together with its entire blog trail) or postings which could be defamatory or seditious in nature; (iii) to lodge any grievances or complaints through the proper channels made available at the University, such as through:- (a) the University's Counselling Services; (b) MUSA Education Affairs Committee; (c) the University's Student Services Department; (d) the Course Managers of the respective Schools.

The University also encourages students to at all times maintain and uphold (and not tarnish nor prejudice) the good name and reputation of Monash University as being a premier international university as a good name and reputation serves to benefit not just the University but also the students.

Please be so advised.

Thank you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To be frank, I have observed one particular blog which has let's say commented things in this university.

These comments, are somehow facts about the live and people in the campus but delivered in a way that is inconsiderate to the people that are becoming the subjects of the comments.

Therefore for this, I have to applaud the University for recognizing this matter quick enough and in the end I just want to added (liberal) democracy has really great to humanity, but somehow uncontrolled, it would lead to anarchy and that is the last thing we wanted after all the troubles in the world isn't it?

The 8 habits

Added on by Ridzki.

Got this from Gerry, a homework regarding our habitual life, and without further ado these are the rules to write: Rules : 1. Each blogger must post these rules 2. Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves 3. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. 4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’ve been tagged and to read your blog.

So here goes:

  1. I'm addicted to caffeine, whether it's a coffee, tea, or the molecular structure of the compound itself.
  2. I observed my surroundings a lot, that way I gain more knowledge regarding places, people and life itself.
  3. I care a lot about people in my life, the thing is I couldn't show it to them.
  4. I'm somehow conservative towards myself.
  5. Sometime for a sake of a good argument, I would become a hardheaded person.
  6. My tongue loves cynical and sarcastic comments, but other people hated them.
  7. I would try my best to blend with people.
  8. I don't normally do this because I hate to become predictable.

And the next in list are: Kemi and Yoyo, and I'm still figuring out the rest, sorry for not playing by the rules.

Cheers

tell me, am I really that bad?

Added on by Ridzki.

This day I heard that my roommate had something wrong with him, but I didn't get this news out from him, I got it from another friend of mine. The first I thing I do then, is to go back to my room and ask him what is wrong with him, however, he didn't answer me, he just said that it's nothing to be worried about. Tomorrow he'll go back to his hometown for a week, asked by his mum he said, after he had said that, I looked back the way life had revolving around us, as I was never there in case he needed something from me, as he probably always living in loneliness and I, the one who should know better than others is nowhere in sights. This came in like a storm in my life, making me realized that I am such an ignorant in this life.

So tell me, have I abandoned him? have I become such ignorant that I myself did not care for others? for I had spent the time only for myself, my selfish self.

Do scientists make a good businessmen?

Added on by Ridzki.

Last week I was attending a "seminar" titled "The Importance of Commercialization", however it turns out that the "seminar" was actually an introduction of a new postgrad course offered in Monash University Australia which is the Master of Business (Commercialising Science and Technology). Based on the booklet received at the seminar and the seminar itself, this course give its student more choice in their career, which involve the development of wealth-creating opportunities in the business of science and technology. The key features offered in this course is the specific intent to assist student in commercialising leading edge medical, scientific and technology research projects, in other words the course will teach student the fundamentals of business, economics, legal and management skill required to contribute to this process.

OK, let's face it science student does not essentially make a good businessman nor does business student would make a great scientist, and this is somehow looked like an interesting career path for science student to get out from spending their life in researching or resorting to another career path which totally different from their studies (whom many of them did). So based on the possibilities of these career path this is totally an alternative and promising pathway wasn't it?

In an economic sense yes it is, because it will give the possibilities for one of the student to become an entrepreneur and build their own company, make a discovery thus a lot of money etc. etc. However the choices are still ours right? If I want to make medicine which people in third country can afford rather than chasing profit it's still my choice right? If the world was turning because of the money, I still could standing still without it right? If the temptations were there and the chance were given am I a fool not to join in the rally to chase of commercialization?

I don't mean that scientist does not have the rights to obtain economic wealth, it's just that if all the orientation is based economically then where does the next research fits? is it for creating a cure for a disease or is it for making a profit from a cure of a disease?

The knowledge for this is significant, but it is not the mindset of scientist should have, I believe, because there are still people who can't afford medicine in this world, and our burden is to provide them with what is available, not overcharge them.

I am playing tricks on my minds

Added on by Ridzki.

How is life without recognitions, however full of rejections. How is life filled with alienation, done by people whom are familiar.

How is life filled with false judgment, where you would always be the one that play the culprit and you could never win the case.

How is life filled with agonies and worries, while the world leaving you spinning and twisting following to the tunes of rotation and revolution.

However bad it is, sometimes, it's just the plain old tricks that the minds played, and somehow we just accept that, because falling down is simpler than climbing up. Then after realizing these I wanted changes, I wanted that my minds not to think any of this of part of the blades that would able to slice and chop me. This is done by looking at all matters in the perspective of half full not half empty, and the exposure of constant reminder about what I need to do and when that could be achieved I believe the painful loneliness would become the perfect solitude.

62 years.

Added on by Ridzki.

62 years, for people, that probably the most conforming time for their life. 62 years, for people, that may be the time for them to not to deal with anything trivial anymore.

62 years, for people, that time is probably is when they already considering their obituary and thinking about their memories that have faded.

For a country, however, it could be the time that, it just about to learn walking or even started to chow down its first food.

It could also be the time where it has matured to become something so complex and yet still simple enough to be understood and followed.

Whatever it is, it's still the place where my heart resides, place where I born, live and preferably died in the arms of the nature shaping it and I still believe even though storms are coming, hopes are lost, and faith is almost extinct, it would still the place where I could find my peace.

In the end I could only say, may you mature to become something that people would look up in awe rather than becoming anecdotes in the corner column of the world issues.

I'm sorry for everything that I've done and what I will do, but is it enough?

How's life there in Malaysia?

Added on by Ridzki.

If people from Indonesia asked me where am I studying, I would answer "well I studied Medical Bioscience in Monash University in Malaysia" and their reply could be categorized into two types; first, for them who know Monash University they would reply "oh ok how many years left?" or "what's the plan after study?" for the people who doesn't know anything about Monash or education in Malaysia they probably going to say; "the heck you doing in Malaysia to become a maid?" as Indonesia is one of the biggest importer of the maid to Malaysia apparently. Well apparently living here is not just about the study, the maid things, and the life after study which I always try to enjoy. However my view upon this country is changing significantly, this is mainly because on my final semester of the second year I was taking an Arts subject as my elective, the lecturer would teach us world history basically, but how she related it to the Malaysia's modern issue made me curious of looking into more than just the normal, plain stories in the newspaper. At past probably I was interested regarding the beta agonist, highway incident, the sports section, any artist or band coming to Malaysia, sales announcements, or purely gossip just because I'm curious.

Suddenly a murder case of one women, one Mongolian women, Altantuya Shariibu, caught me in a political tales in Malaysia (due to the relationship of the murdered with top political people in Malaysia) However, I would still consider this section as unworthy of me to make comment or remark so what can I do is just observing and looking at other news. The more that I spend my time in front of the screen looking through news from blogs particularly had given me another viewpoint of Malaysia, a nation which is going to celebrate its 50 years of independence soon.

In the end I just wish all the best to this country, may all its plights are solved not buried. May all the people's rights fulfilled, and my all what is need to be done is done.

I learned that:

  • Sacrifices are always necessary.
  • To be more patient is important.
  • My opinion is not the same as their so don't be selfish.
  • The generation gap is widening.
  • Cunts are running the world now and forever.
  • The peaceful mind is already there in your head, It's really up to you whether you want to reach it or not.

I'm not a plastic, are you?

Added on by Ridzki.

Few days back I was walking around to Suria KLCC and my mother decided to visit one of the high class fashion bag store Anya Hindmarch and I was interested that they had one of the "I'm not a plastic bag" bag which is going to be released for one time only on 6th of July 2007 in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan for a price of RM 55 only or about 16 US Dollar, this price when compared to a normal price bag which would have a price tag of RM 1000++ or 290 US Dollar seems like a perfect fashion accessories that you must have. However, there is a bigger story to it, the bag was actually a collaboration between Anya Hindmarch and We Are What We Do movement in order to make people to change their daily habit to eventually change the world to a better place. What in the world came up to your mind when you heard the stories that people are willing to queue from 12 am in front of the shopping mall just to enter it at 6 am while the stores itself open at 10 am, that the bag was sold out for in 1.5 hours only, that the workers in the stores was trapped in the stores for 4 hours because the angry mob was blocking the store exits, that 1000 people had shown up just for a bag, that the workers are strongly advised to go back home without wearing anything that shows that they are working in the store because they feared that something would happen to them, that I looked up on eBay Hong Kong which had already listed the bag for a price of 3000 HK Dollar or about USD 384, far more than the actual value of the bag, that eBay Malaysia had also listed the bag for RM 350 and there is still no bid on it.

So what is it that drives people to buy the bag? is it to make yourself more plastic by buying that by having the latest and limited edition like being worn by Kiera Knightley while the bag itself saying that it is not a plastic bag. Why won't they start to change their daily habit like being advised by the movement, and if they would want to contribute why won't them buy something else from the movement?

In the end, I would just say congratulations to whoever had the bag, you're now a part of movement to make the world better, and I would hoped that your actions did not stopped here but to continue further on.

A symbolical freedom

Added on by Ridzki.

Just few days back, BBC journalist Alan Johnston is being freed by Hamas, through negotiation with the Army of Islam, so now the world was left with the question now is Hamas ready to talk to their international counterpart or even cooperating with Fatah to achieve the goal in the struggle through diplomatic ways. Hamas had been well known by their way in the Palestinian movement, by using method such as suicide bombing or even other attacks to Israel army or citizen and even to their own political rival Fatah. However, during the attempt to free Alan Johnston, Hamas has proven that they are willing to take drastic move, to meet the British Government for the first time in history.True peace in Middle East may seems pretty unclear these days and many days to come however, this event should not be taken lightly, this could be one of the key steps to reach what many people have been longing from.

I still personally believe that peace would come to the Middle East, even though there were sayings that when the time for Israel and Palestine should reconcile and made peace it would be the end of human days, I would still look up for that day to come.

Nothing endures but change

Added on by Ridzki.

I was talking to one of my friend the other day, and I was amazed how she had changed, while I was always wondering did I'm the one who had changed from that boy from the past to what I am now. It was interesting how only for a small time we could have changed from one person, one consciousness to another, considered that, we ourselves are often fear changes.

So what it is that could have driven us, is it our desire? our thoughts? our willingness? or is it just because we don't have anything left for our choice, so that we have to change?

I guess people would just change, not because they have to, it's more like we ourselves does not know that we are changing, until we meet the people from our past whom we left with our impression back then.

So what was this all about eh? I'm probably trying out once more, after failing one another. I just feel a need to write in some medium, whether it's just for fun or just trying to expand my thoughts and keep them for a whole lot of time. and i guess now it's final that i would spend my thoughts here even though it is sometimes bias and unethical.
